May be I am the only one, but in my experience, the 8th edition OALD is far better than the 7th edition. I am not talking about the user interface, but about the content. There are far more example sentences and more additional entries. Have a look.And I am really not worried about using the dictionary software as I am using (far better) goldendict software.
